Am I correct in assuming that this only needs to be done ONE time and if so how do I check within the script that it has already been done so that I can continue on using kixforms

Your assumption is correct.

Most people check that the DLL is installed simply by creating an instance of the object.

If the object creation works then you can continue to use it.

If the object creation fails then copy the DLL and register it. Now try to create the object again. If it still fails you have a problem you will need to deal with manually.

Is there anyway of NOT having that box come up in intial install?

Yes. Type "regsvr32 /?" to see the command line options - you want the "/s" switch.
