Okay Mart, here's an update. The reason why this pertains to this thread is because i am trying to remap the My Docs folder (which you helped me with previsouly - thanks a bunch!!!!). in kix, we are using a kill function to respawn the explorer.exr process to read the updated value from the reg. this is working fine, except i'd love to use a policy (i.e. the sync one which is supposed to wait for the logon script to finish before starting explorer). well, i've now got this put in the at the domain level, using the xp adm files and it is soooooo frustrating that it is not working. can anyone thing of anything i missed? i have tried both gpupdate /force and a reboot. As kixtart is running, the desktop appears and all the system tray icons are populated. explorer is finished way before the logon script finishes. therefore, the new My Docs value is not read from the reg after it has been modified by kixtart. grim!!!
