No matter if it's batch, vb, kix or whatever if it's set as a login script in AD users and computers under each account or by GPO the sync option will work.
gpupdate is just to force an update (need to use the /force option for real forced update) and not wiat for the automatic update or do a reboot. Much faster testing using gpupdate on xp or secupdate on 2K.
