Thank you, sealeopard.. That worked, kind of... It still won't work in the startup scripts, but, I copied wkix32.exe to the system32 folder and ran:
ASSOC .KIX=KiXtart.Script
FTYPE KiXtart.Script=wkix32.exe %1 %*

I set the "Run these programs at user logon" to run "\\servername\share\dns.kix"

It ran great! Thank you so much for your help! I don't know if anyone else will have this problem, because most admins are able to copy their scripts to the SYSVOL folder...

OK guys... Got the real fix for this!

The problem was that, for some reason, the logon scripts or startup scripts was exiting too fast for the kix script to run.

I was able to put the following into a .bat file and it ran beautifully!

\\servername\share\wkix32.exe \\servername\share\dns.kix
PING -n 3 127.0.0.1>nul

The number 3 represents about how many seconds you want the script to pause for.

I copied the .bat file to the same share, and put the following into the startup script

\\servername\share\dns.bat

Thanks to all for your help!

Cool ideas about running scripts. I'm looking into these options for myself. Thanks for the helpful posts Kent and Jens!

I don't know what some people's aversion to BATch files are about. I mean, GPOs run hidden anyway so there is nothing to see. I really really dislike creating associations and prefer to put the BATch file into the current dir of the GPO. I don't like refencing a \\Server\Share as that leads to a single point of failure. I much prefer to use \\domain.tld\DFSroot instead as it is replicated to each and every DC.

As for why alayanna would have to introduce a delay to get it to work, I haven't a clue. I never had to do that using the current dir.

I'd rather not use the associations either as I don't want random people to just double-click on a KiXtrat script and have it run.
