I am able to ROBOCOPY folders, but not individual files. I would like to copy over updated DBF files for our system to other servers and not have to use a straight copy..

Code:

::robocopy \\SERVER\apps\program\tables\dbflist.* \\SERVER2\c$\program\tables /NP /MIR /R:5 /W:10 /REG

When I run this, I get the message - "cannot find the folder - dbflist*"

Thanks!

Kent

Syntax is wrong Kent.
You dont need to supply the file type if you want all files, it defaults to *
Try something like this
I would also use the /Z switch (copy files in restartable mode)
SOURCE DESTINATION filetype or leave blank Then switches

Give that a try and let us know.

Code:
robocopy \\SERVER\apps\program\tables\dbflist \\SERVER2\c$\program\tables /NP /Z /MIR /R:5 /W:10 /REG

use sourcedir destdir filemask

Usage :: ROBOCOPY source destination [file [file]...] [options]

like: robocopy c:\windows h:\test *.ini

Here is what I came up with.
Code:

robocopy \\SERVER\apps\program\tables \\SERVER\apps\program\tables dbflist.* /NP /Z /MIR /R:5 /W:10 /REG

Thanks guys!

Found a problem.. If the DBF file is in use, does not work. But, then again, I could do this at night when people are not in the system.

No problem, but did you run the code example? By default it will copy ALL files if you don't supply a filter.

Kent, if you leave it running in monitor mode and don't mode and don't modify the retry value from the default of 1 million then sooner or later it should copy the file on it's own.
