Hi All

Here is the situation :
In my comany, We have 2 differents NT domains controlled each by a NT server (one is intel and the other is Alpha).
On the intel server, kixtart is working fine.
One the alpha, it is not : my script doesn't seem to run : I can't observe the desired result (simple mapping).
What i want to do is to redirect kixtart from the alpha server to the intel server?
What is the best solution? (variable SET, registry entry or ini file)

How should I proceed ? What must I change in my clients depending of my alpha server? What should I change on my alpha server ?

Thanks in advance for any help.
This problem is getting me mad!!!

Vincent

Just some clarification - I get the impression that the KiXtart scripts are running, the problem is that your not getting your drive mappings ... are these maps based on group membership [ingroup()} and could it be just be that the ingroup() function is not working properly ?

If running Windows 9x clients - is the KXRPC service installed and running on the Alpha server (again, this is required if doing group based mappings on 9x] ...

Hi shawn

mapping are based on the login name (using @USERID).
I want each my user have their their own private directory on the server based on a hidden share.
In order to see if the script was running, I used the following (on the alpha server)
color b/n
grid(...)

I diden't see any grid.

Thanks for your help.

Vincent,

at least I can say something for the grid(..) :

grid is a Line style statement to be used in the BOX() function , so the correct syntax for filling the whole (80x25) dos box would be :

code:

break on

color b/n
box(0,0,25,80,grid)

get $

Jochen

does the kix script's run at all for the alpha server domain?

what version of kix are you using?

My gut feeling on this problem is, you have the alpha version of kix in the netlogon folder of the Alpha server, and are trying to execute this Alpha version of kix on Intel computers....if that is not the case then please ignore this

You're probably right.
I'm using the version 3.63 version of Kix.
If i can remember, I use Alpha version of kxrpc and kix32 and intel version of other files.
Which are the correct version of which platform that I should use on my alpha netlogon share?

you will want to use the correct version for the correct computer you are running kix on....

the alpha version of kxrpc running on the alpha server is right.

You will want to have the intel version of kix32.exe in the netlogon folder so then when your logon script is executed on the Intel clients, they are running the correct version.

If you are going to be executing kix scripts on the alpha server locally, then you will want to use the alpha version of kix32.exe, place kix32.exe in the %systemroot%\system32 folder.
