we are planning to migrate from NT4 Domain to Win2k3 AD.
we have 9 NT4 domains and the target is a unique domain.
we have for about 2500 stations to integrate to the new domain.
after many trys to script this manipulation, we are now stopped because of the user profile.
what we want is to automatic the copy of the old profile to the new one and the user will find all his configurations (printers, shortcuts,ie settings...).
i hope that i was clear in my post.

Why not use ADMT2?

Did something like this to move to a new NT4 domain a few years ago - what we did was rename the existing user profile directories - although new users were being created in the destination domain in this example, so that there were no SID conflicts.

We renamed the existing Default User profile to Default Old and renamed the existing user's profile to Default User. Then when the user logged in with their new user account in the new domain, their profile was created with all the settings (wallpapers, favourites, cookies, printers, etc) that were in their old profile.

Alternatively these days there are a few tools that do this sort of thing - doesn't Microsoft provide a User State Migration Tool (USMT) to do this kind of thing?

Anyway, that's an idea for you - it worked smoothly enough for us, I recall.

thanks for your response
I used a mix off all your solution.
1 - 2way relationship
2 - migrate SID ( SIDhistory)
3 - migrate stations
4 - replace the path for the profile in the registry
all is OK.
