I am trying to remap a network drive. I want to change a mapping from:

\\server1\abc\def

to

\\server2\abc\def

Whilst I am able to do this using the USE command, when I remap the drive letter the description of the network drive shown on My Computer (Windows XP) still shows a connection to the old location. Even though a quick NET USE from the DOS prompt shows that the drive has mapped to the new location.

Is there a way to force the drive description to update? I am using the /F switch when executing the script.

Thanks in advance.

ja.

There are several mapdrive udfs in our udf library forum of which at least one handles this ... iirc, there was also one udf that only 'labels' the mapped drive

hmm...
you have network drive caching enabled?
still, seems weird that the label is cached even though the drive is totally different

How can I check if I have network drive caching enabled? Also I have been using the USE function in other KIX scripts with no problems.

If we look back in the manual for drive/print mappings, we see on page 48 of the 4.22 Guide:

USE * /DELETE

I noticed that the full path to remap wasn't being passed correctly into the remap function. This is wierd because it did work before! Once I verified that the full path to remap was present and correct the drive label changed when I ran the script.

Happy days!
