Thanks for the link Rad. Might be good for home use if you don't want to fire up the big hog from Adobe, but it is NOT FREE for business use. I also find it difficult to believe that it is as capable as Adobe Acrobat Reader with such a small size.

FoxIt PDF Reader = $39 per user with discounts for multiple users
http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/pricing_tv.htm

Adobe Acrobat Reader = FREE for commercial use as well.

Doc... you are looking at the wrong product.

you looked at: PDF Text Viewer For Windows 98/Me/2000/XP/2003
instead of: PDF Reader for Windows 98/Me/2000/XP/2003

Foxit PDF Reader runs on Windows 95/98/NT/2000/XP/2003. It is provided by Foxit Software Company for free non-commercial use. This product is provided AS IS without any explicit or implicit warranty.

However, I had some guys test it here and this is what they found so far:
Quote:

I have tried it on XP and W2k. In general, lots of nice features, obvious to use.

Two problems I have seen, under XP, after expanding to full page with the 4 arrow button, if you Escape to get back to regular screen, the Windows Taskbar does not come back. If the small 4 arrow icon is used to return to regular screen, Taskbar appears normal.

Under W2K and XP, clicking in the gray area just outside the displayed page causes a program error in the exe, and the program terminates.

DL'ed DD2642, with fillable fields in Adobe Reader, this reader does not allow completing of the form.

Sorry about that Rad, thanks for the update and the feedback from some of your users.

Who knows, maybe someday might be a solid alternative or if you only have simple reading needs, but still would think it is hard to outdo Adobe on this since they have been doing it for over a decade now.

We use PDF995 on our Citrix farm, free and pretty low on the CPU priority.. and as an added bonus has a delightful printer queue that will pipe printer output to a PDF'ied file.

995 is adware and thus I dumbed it.

pdfcreator is light and totally free instead:

"free for non-commercial use" is what?

Thanks,

Another good (free) creator is PrimoPDF.

As far as the reader non-commercial use thing goes, I think it means you can't sell it. They do have a free redistribution agreement, but you have to contact them for that.
