Shouldn't it be kix32.exe?

are you running kix from the command line, or running it out of a script ? what happens if you fully qualify the script name ?

From a DOS Console

C:\SCRIPTS

The folder SCRIPTS contains KIX32.EXE and SHUTDOWN.KIX

C:\SCRIPTS\KIX32.EXE SHUTDOWN.KIX

ja, I usually just plop kix32.exe into system32, then CD to my script dir, and just hand-job it from there.

most likely this kinda error is given by script kixtart does not think is a script at all.
another reason is that you have editor append another appendix, thus your file really would be something like script.kix.txt

...like script.kix.txt ...

Good one Jooel, I used to get stung by that one all the time (until I learned to use double-quotes when I saved scripts in notepad) ... good thought.
