Is there a way to test to see if Kix32 is still running or completed..

Trying to run local script but only after the network kix32 logon script has completed..

What scripting language is your local script written in ? Kix ?

if your logonscript is kix, you can enum your processes.
check the processes if you have other kixtart process running (if not @pid=@process.id) and so on.

I assume John is talking about having some other script (not the login script) determine when the login script is finished. If this local script got kicked-off by the login script, then we probably wouldn't be having this discussion (nothing to detect).

My guess is that his login script sets up an RUN or RUNONCE script, or maybe it starts from the startup folder ? And because his login scripts are asynch, he needs a way to "sync" them up ?

I'm thinking maybe registry cookies here ? File cookies ? Maybe scanning for processes ? Couple ways I guess.

well, I'm with ya.
say, if he has the logonscript running on kixtart, he can rely on stuff like @pid.
just need to wait for his answer...

Yes, the logon script is written in Kix..

The local kix script runs a ipconfig /release and /renew but since they are not in sync it kicks the network script off..

thx

While it is possible to RunLogonScriptSync, I presume there is some reason you don't want to.

You could have the logon script write its PID to the registry at the beginning of the script and remove it as the last step. Your RUN key script could then check the reg in a loop for the PID and compare it with what is enum'd as a loop breaker. This is a belt and suspenders approach since the logon script should remove the reg value but you don't want to let the RUN script goet into a never ending loop.
