If you want to prune off Anupam's portion from this thread then just ask Howard to move the entire thread to one you are moderator of, making sure he doesn't delete the original. You will then have two copies. On your copy, delete everything up to Anupam's first post, rename it, and move it back.
Howard could then delete Anupam's portion from the original and you'd have effectively split it into two separate threads.
