Hi all,

It seems when I have nothing in the proxy settings for the group policy and I have a kix script the proxy settings on a WINXP client are "unticked", when I enable the proxy settings on the group policy they are ticked again. I wasn't aware that the group policy for proxys actually will overwrite and untick anything in the proxy settings, is this true? I thought if I didnt touch the proxy settings it should apply the policy to untick the enable proxy.

Here is what I am using for the kix script:
Code:

;---- Update IE Proxy Settings in Reg ----

$RC = WRITEVALUE ("HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\microsoft\internet explorer\main","Start Page", "http://sintranet", "REG_sz")
$HKCUMWCVIS="HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS\CURRENTVERSION\INTERNET SETTINGS\"
$RC = WriteValue($HKCUMWCVIS, "ProxyEnable", "1", "REG_DWORD")
$RC = WriteValue($HKCUMWCVIS, "ProxyServer", "proxy:8080", "REG_SZ")
$RC = WriteValue ($HKCUMWCVIS, "ProxyOverride", "", "REG_SZ")

if policy says "not set" it's not set and it should not affect.
not sure should policy setting touch these values anyways, even if set.

The proxy settings group pol in IE Maintainence does not have a not set button, however with this unticked it turns off the "enable proxy" on all computers in the domain with the above kix script? The script looks ok right?

If something is being set in GPO, why are you trying to over-ride it? Registry hacking may look correct, but can prove fruitless as GPO can and will take precedence.
