Hello this is my second post in the subject written at the topic.

unfortunately i wasnt able to use it because i didnt know how to..

Questions:

Are you the Administrator?

Do you have access to the Server?

If Yes, then you can just access the server, find the Folder and have a look at the permissions (properties/security/permissions).

Sorry you hit a bump in the road...

Maybe if you explained what you've tried and where it failing. The following works for me with my server in place of yours:

code:

shell '%comspec% /c showacls.exe /s "\\maorserv\home" >c:\showacls.txt'

In my case I copied ShowACLS.exe to the same folder as the test script. Since I'm redirecting to file, must include the CMD interpreter.

After, it's just a matter of analyzing the output file.

Hey les thanks for answering ..

you remember i asked you something about folder premissions and you toldme to get showacls ..

The good news are that i got it
The bad news though are that i dont know how to use it )(i read the txt)

here's what i wanna do..

lets say that in my home directory i got a folder called "maor"

now lets say i run a script..
i want to program an option that would allow me to see what privilages a user have on a certain folder..

back to the example , i got a folder called maor inside my home directory..
i want to know which users have access to it
i want to know which users have a premission to read\write the files in this folder and so on and so on

is this doable with showacls ??

if yes please tell me how please

thanks

maor.

Maor??

I pointed you to ShowACLS... I gave you some sample code...

If you tried it, you should have results in showacls.txt to look at. OK, let's assume you have that. Now, what do you want to do with the information?

I'm a 'teach a man to fish' kinda guy. This is not the drive through window at McKiX. No McFish sandwiches here.

Les,

i dont think you understand what i am trying to do.

i'll exaplin it again:

i want the whole operation to be done by kix&showacls..

let me explain to you how my server looks like
it has 2 drives (h: and j
in each drive i have a home directory.
now when the script is activated i want the user to choose a drive from the menu (i'll create it ) and then i want the script, with the help of showacls.exe ,to show me a list of the folder and next to each foler the users that have privileges to use the directory.. next to the users i want to see what they can do with the directory(read the files in it edit them delete them and so on )

thats it...

can i do that ??

thanks in advance

ben.
