what type of script you are talking about?
as an example, logonscripts do require some help to do this.
on the other hand, adminscripts do this naturally.

There is no truly secure way to do this in a logon script and should therefor be done with a central admin script. If you are willing to compromise security, you can find many posts on hte subject.

may I ask what those updates would be?
depending on the need, there is lot of choices... there is even Kixtart System Management Server (free) and lots more.

1.
I will copy new bitmaps (wallpaper.bmp) from the server in the c:\windows firectory. The existing files must be replaced.

2.
for new users, I will define the wallpaper.
I have tried with SETWALLPAPER(wallpaper.bmp). After the command, the backgrount is frozen and blue (it does not function correctly)

3.
I will set an other wallpaper on the welcomescreen before I press "crt+alt+del" for login.

q: where I finde the SMS-Kixtart and informations about adminlogin's ?
Thank you for help

instead of replacing the old bitmaps, isn't windows able to read it from elsewhere too?
just write the location to registry...
long time (many year) since I last even glanced these things, but shouldn't be too hard.
this way you will not need to compromise security, nor you don't need to write adminscript for it.

You don't mention what version of KiXtart nor what Operating system(s) you are working with for the SETWALLPAPER..

For KiXSMS.. Use KiXtart SMS for your search string.

So.. Does this mean that SETWALLPAPER still does not work?

I had a similar problem, not 100% resolved yet but...

On XP all files in the Windows Dir are protected from normal users, I use BGInfo to set wallpaper with system info on it, but it doesn't work on XP as the user doesn't have the necessary rights to make the new wallpaper file.

Is this the type of problem you're having?

I used CACLS to change the permissions to the BGInfo.bmp when ever an admin logs on.

This fixes all new PC's as Admin logs on to set them up so the file is sorted before the users get them. I've yet to fix the existing PC's though.

You could remotely modify the permissions on the .BMP file to allow normal users to update just that file.
