Having a very weird problem. When logging in on a Windows 95 machine, I am getting KIX32 causing a GPF in module UNKNOWN. I've searched previous messages and this is what I have done:

Installed the KXRPC service on all of our domain controllers
Created a KIXTART.INI file and placed it in the NETLOGON share of each domain controller
I even copied down the entire NETLOGON folder to the local machine and just tried running it from there. Same result. Everytime it hits the first If InGroup statement, it blows up.

Has anyone found a solution for this, or can offer some type of help as to anything I may have overlooked?

BTW...here's the code (pretty simple actually).

code:

If SetConsole ("MAXIMIZE") = 0

? "Greetings " + @USERID
? "Please wait while your login script executes."

EndIf

Use "F:" "\\ADMIN\SYS"
Use "G:" "\\ADMIN\APPS"
Use "H:" "\\ADMIN\FUNDING"
Use "I:" "\\ADMIN\SERVICER"

If InGroup ("ADMIN_SCAN")
Use "K:" "\\ADMIN\STORAGE\MOTHRA"
EndIf

what version of kix are you using?

3.63 is the latest "Gold" version.
4.0 has just reached RC3 status and will go gold in the next month... i hope

Are you by any chance running McAfee antivirus software on this system?

How many systems have this problem? 1 or manny?

For testing, try disabling everything that loads from the Registry and from WIN.INI and AUTOEXEC.BAT Del all the temp files on the system and then run a Scandisk on the system.

Then reboot and see if the machine continues to exhibit this problem or not.

Well, here's what's interesting. I talked with one of our techs here that was working on the machine. Apparently the machine was having some TCP/IP issues (i.e. couldn't get on the internet). So, the tech installed Winsock2 on the machine. Immediately upon reboot, KIX32 GPF'd. Prior to him installing winsock2, the scripts ran fine. Just an FYI, not much longer and I'm just going to replace the machine.

Dear,

FYI: kix32.exe is using a lot of DLL's of windows system. So far we know
it can be possible that one or more commands, functions and macro's are
make calls to following files:

code:

advapi32.dll
kernel32.dll
mpr.dll
netapi.dll
netapi32.dll
ole32.dll
rasapi32.dll
rpcrt4.dll
user32.dll
version.dll
winmm.dll
wsock32.dll

One of them QA Man was the missing wsock part.
Greetings.

btw: some effects are "your GPF's" and empty macro values.
