Yep,

You could use KiX to modify the registry remotely or you could use the XNET.exe tool included in the package.

Note: admin powers are required.

About what package do you talk, where can I find Xnet.exe?

Please can you give me examples how to do it?

XNET is included with KiXtart, you will find it in a subdirectory in the directory that you unpacked KiXtart to.

Usage instructions for Xnet are also included in the sub-directory.

If your running NT5 all round, could give the COM ADSI approach a try, just change the $vars as required:

Code:

break on

$username = "administrator"
$password = "******"
$hostname = "dnafx1"
$service = "alerter"

$root = GetObject("WinNT:")

if $root

$service = $root.OpenDSObject("WinNT://$hostname/$service,service",$username,$password,0)

if $service

$service.StartType = 2
$service.SetInfo()

endif

endif

exit 1

I love KIX!!!

And I have to say that this is the best forum in the whole internet. Always really quick and very good solutions.

Thank you, all.

And ready-made solutions are already posted in the UDF Forum.
