I was hoping to find a way to map a single network drive share for 20 end users who all use different .bat file log in scripts. Some of the scripts are shared by hundreds of users, of which I do not want to effect.
Do you know of a way?

You could do what I did and combine all of the department logon scripts into one single logon script written in KiXtart.

If you don't like that, you could call a KiXtart script from your batch script that maps the 20 user's shares based on a group membership.

Or... you could edit each batch logon script to map the share.

Or... (you get the point)

Thanks Chris S.

How long did it take you to migrate from your departmental scripts to KixTart?
The log in scripts that I want to modify are used by hundreds of end users..only 20 will have access to this share.
Maybe they won't notice an extra drive mapping : )
Or...I'll create 20 individual log in scripts....
Or...I'll tell them to map a drive...

Not all that long, really. The biggest pain was determining whether the antiquated and unmaintained logon scripts were still mapping valid shares. The next was handling conflicting drive letter mappings.

If you use KiX, you can add these 20 users into a group and use KiXtart's InGroup function to determine if they should get the drive mapped. It would look something like this...

Code:

If InGroup("Funky_Group")
Use F: /DELETE
Use F: "\\Disco_Server\Funkadelic_Share"
EndIf

Good luck with that.

You could pay me a large consulting fee and I'll write all 20 for you.

Or they could all pay me a consulting fee and I will instruct them how to; 1) flagellate themselves with network cables, 2) worship me as a minor deity and, 3) map a network share.

Thank you for your help!!
It's probably about time we get rid of our 300 some odd batch file log in scripts and move to Kixtart...in the mean time, how much for the instructions on how to flagellate themselves with network cables?
