Is it possible to hide folders from other users?

I have a logical drive that a whole host of users home directories are stored. As the folders had to be shared out when the user accesses the drive they can list all others home folders?

Is there any way of hiding a users home folder from everyone bar the actual user who has logged in?

No.

The folders should be protected by permissions such that other users cannot access them, so there is no reason to hide them.

If you don't want the folders to be visible you will need to map directly to the lower level instead.

Why is having the folder visible an issue?

It is an issue as there are some fifty or so users in the structure?
Combined with the shared folders, there are a hell of a lot files!!
It is because of the limitations of W9x I think?

A bigger limitation is your current design. It is simply going to make life difficult for you, so why not change it to something more sensible?

If you really, absolutley must have such a Heath Robinson structure, use something like DFS to present the share(s). You will still need to move the users folders though.

You will spend far more time trying to circumvent this problem and support it than you will in fixing it.
