Can someone please let me know why this won't work in Win2k Pro?

run "c:\program files\internet explorer\iexplore.exe -k https://www.anything.com"

I'm simply trying to do a call to this one line script for one of my groups to start IE in kiosk mode and it's just not working...Any thoughts? TIA

Today a few of us edited the registry on our kiosk in order to perform the same function.

HKLM-->Software-->Microsoft-->Windows-->CurrentVersion-->Run

Add a new string value named ie
The -k must be outside the quotes.
"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" -k

I'm not sure about forcing the home page in
the new string value but just do that in the
default home page ie icon in the control panel.

Good Luck.

U must be the real SlimShady...worked like a champ, thx dude! However, I still need to find an option that lets call that option from a script as this option affects all users and groups. Thanks again for your fast response

With your line...
run "c:\program files\internet explorer\iexplore.exe -k https://www.anything.com"
the problem is with quotes. Since you use a full path to IEXPLORE, and it's a long name, you need to enclose in quotes but the entire RUN parameter is already in quotes.
You need to use single quotes to bracket the RUN parameter and then you can use double quotes inside. So something like...
run '"c:\program files\internet explorer\iexplore.exe" -k https://www.anything.com'
should work.

Umm... How do you exit the browser once you've invoked the "kiosk" mode. Is there a better way than ALT-F4 ?
