I've what I think is odd situation in which KXRPC service apparently not fully funtioning on Win2003 server. I have searched the BB on this, and of course reviewed docs, but have not found solution. Bringing online Win2003 AD domain, and currently have WinNT4 domain w/installed KXRPC and clients running KiX logon script. Have installed KXRPC v4.11 service on sole Win2003 DC - same version as on WinNT DC's (verified file dates and sizes). Defined my Win2003 'kixtart.ini' file to point Win2003 server. Logged into WinNT domain w/Win98 system - all works fine. Logon w/Win98 to Win2003 server running KXRPC, and here are results I get for 3 macros that are documented to require KXRPC service: - no value returned for @RSERVER - no value returned for @HOMEDRIVE - proper value returned for @LDOMAIN Tried flushing the token cache when launching Win2003-version of logon script (kix32.exe /ril login.kix /f), and still get above results. Now, upgrading to v4.22 might work, except I've only 1 Win2003 DC, and docs spell out I have to update KX95.DLL on all clients as KXRPC v4.20+ not downward compatible. So, essentially I'd be upgrading all clients without any testing to confirm v4.11 server-component is the problem. So, anyone got any thoughts on this issue they care to share with me and the board? I'd appreciate it. Bill

Les Les KiX Master Registered: 2001-06-11 Posts: 12734 Loc: fortfrances.on.ca	KXRPC can also be installed on any member server if you think 2003 is the issue. I have my doubts though. I am thinking that the AD perms are too tight. Might have to loosen to pre-Windows 2000 compatibility. _________________________ Give a man a fish and he will be back for more. bleonard bleonard Seasoned Scripter Registered: 2001-01-19 Posts: 581 Loc: Chicago, IL	Les, Unfortunately, no member servers yet - those will be my old NT4 DC's (downside of server consolidation). I've also tried including my WinNT DC's in 'kixtart.ini' (full trust between domains), but still no luck. Currently domain is Win2K Native. Any idea on the perms you think might be an issue, or just working off the idea security preventing proper call/respond of KXRPC service? A review of server event viewer has nothing logged of value. bleonard bleonard Seasoned Scripter Registered: 2001-01-19 Posts: 581 Loc: Chicago, IL	Les - We currently are running in pre-Windows 2000 mode as confirmed by group 'Everyone' in the 'Pre-Windows 2000 Compatible Access' built-in group. Seeing as the INGROUP not working well for me and Win9x and the Win2003 server, I went another route to try ENUMGROUP. Odd thing I have found with ENUMGROUP is results obtained. This is listing of groups returned when logon script called at network logon (group-type added): RATE CARD (Global) SYND CLIENT SVCS (Universal) This is listing of groups returned when running same logon script from command line after logon complete: MyDomain\RATE CARD (Global) MyDomain\SYND CLIENT SVCS (Universal) MyDomain\ACCOUNT SERVICES (Universal) MyDomain\DOMAIN USERS (Global) + built-in groups EVERYONE, NETWORK, AUTHENTICATED USERS etc. Membership in 'ACCOUNT SERVICES' is due to being member of SYND CLIENT SVCS - a nested group - which has worked fine in the WinNT domain. Of course, it gets me wondering why I get the different results. It is definitely Win9x specific - my XP box returns consistent results when run either method. Dumping the Win9x would resolve my issue but not possible at this time. Anyone with ideas - I'd appreciate hearing from you. Bill
