I am running a script to inforce NTFS permissions (xcacls)on all of my PCs but the problem is that it runs on all of them wether the NTFS permissions need to be modified or not. Is there a way I can check to see if the permissions are properly set FIRST, thus only running the script on the PCs that need to have it run?

run cacls first on the folder, and it will dump the permissions

you will need to do some string manipulation and some adsi queries to enum the memberships to determine effective permissions...

In the short term it may just be easier to
read a file, check for error
create a file, check for error
delete a file, check for error

much quicker to write
