Getting the hang of it

In my Kix script I have created a mapping to a share like this

USE H: \\servername\share (share is the primary share)

I would like to create another mapping to another share within the primary share, which all users that belong to a specific group have access to.

USE L: \\servername\share\share\ but I cannot get the script to map to this share. Instead it maps L:\ to the primary share.

I have also tried to map a drive to the home directory of the user using @homeshr but again the mapping maps to the primary share and not to the users share? Any ideas? I have scanned through the manual and I think I am doing everything right?

If I am interpreting this correctly, you are asking to "deep map". That is, you have -
\\SERVER\SHARE

You want to map a drive underneath it-
\\SERVER\SHARE\FOLDER

The thing to keep in mind is that you have to have at least W2k or better to do this.

Just for clarification, is this a windows 2K client or server that is required?

Thanks

you talking about share but it's not a share if you are not sharing it.
so what you are actually trying is to map to a folder in a share.

in my opinion, it should not be possible with any clients.

I am using a W95 client attempting to map to a share on:

1) a novell server \\servername\share
and
2) a share within a share that has been shared out on a W2K server (hope this makes sense)

I am sharing this and it is shared out as resources

\\servername\nw2it(main share)\resources(shared)

Those who belong to the group have access to this share (resources).

there is no such share as deep share.
\\server\share

is a share.
\\server\share\share

is not.

Maybe I've grabbed the wrong end of the stick with both hands here, but if the above is true then you could map drives to either:

\\servername\nw2it, or

\\servername\resources

without the issue of the deep mapping coming up at all.

Am I being stupid?

No, that worked!! Great! Many thanks.

Have you ever mapped using Novell?

I am trying to map two drives to allow users to move their files from the old Novell server to the new w2k server but am struggling somewhat?

Thanks once again

Never had to muck about with Novell - this is a strictly M$ house (somewhat unfortunately).

Breaker,
Do you know whether it is possible to specify a header for the console box that the kixscript runs in?
At present the header is LMSCRIPT and I would like to change it if possible to make it look a bit more professional?
Thanks

See SetTitle() in the manual.
