Getting the hang of it

Anyone know how to wake up a remote pc from it's screen saver session using kix or a utility.

(BTW- I tried using send keys via kix (with psexec) and that didn't work.

It appears you need the users name and password to make any remote commands believe it is the logged in user that is waking it up.

I know there has to be something out there but I can't seem to find it.

Thank in advance,

Well not a great answer, but maybe you could use one of the UDFs and check for any running applications and then attempt to gracefully shut them down or gracefully log the user off if you really need to.

Remote wakeup typically refers to powering on the unit when it is off.

Why do you need to undo or comeback from the screen saver mode, what are you trying to do?

Want to use it for sms distributions. SMS will not install the specified app if the "only when user is logged on" option is set (and we need this for certain installations) and a screen saver is present (this is an sms bug).

I know there is a SP5 sms fix for this but it looks like our company has decided to take a pass on this one.

My thinking was if I can run a prejob that just wakes the pc everytime and then runs the app...I'm good to go.

Well not saying there is not some app or method out there but if you can't locate one then you may have no choice except to restart the client ahead of time and use an auto logon method.

This could be an unwanted sideeeefect of the security om win2k+

If ScreenSaverPassword is on and the computer is in pause-state, you can't shut it down by pressing the on/off button on the cabinet. This is a good featue, BUT, the unwanted siedeffect is that you can't shut down the computer from external(administrative) scripts. Also you cannot do a wakeonlon, because the computer is allready 'awake'.

I would also be intersred if someone has a solution for this

hmmm... not saying that's not true, but I could swear that I've rebooted or logged off a remote system that was locked.

I'll give that a try when I get back to work maybe just to double check.

This utility works rather well for such tasks.

Is my English that bad??? I didn't read anything about this 3 months old thread in your last posts... Why didn't you continue posting to the "old" thread anyway?

And.. Which unanswered question do you mean??

The best option is Lonkero's suggestion to kill the screensaver... Did you tested it??
