Getting the hang of it

I now understand the principles and requirements of Kix and plan to study it further but I was wondering if somebody could help me out quickly as I am under real pressure to resolve this problem.
I have Microsoft AD in place and have several OU's based on geographical location. Within each of these OU's I have a policy and within the policy a folder that holds the login script files.
In this folder I have the actual script, a batch file that calls the script, Kix32.dd, kix95.dll, kix16.dll and kxrpc.exe. User using XP and 2000 access the script ok and map the drives. But 9x users do not seem to process the login script and map to shares as specified in the script? Do I need to add any other files to the folder or files to the client machines? Where am I going wrong? Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks

the rpc needs to be installed on the DCs (see the manual)
the wintendo clients will need the AD client installed

see how that works...

Wintendos do not support GPOs! You will need to use legacy logon scripts for NT4 and wintendos.

Use a BATch file defined in the users profile to launch KiX from Netlogon.

Les, in the users profile in the Login Script option I take it this is where I define what I want to do in terms of using Kix and a login script? Can I specify from here kix32.exe & and the name of the script? I have looked at the manual and this looks like the road I will have to go down. Thanks for your patience.

Wintendos do not support the passing of parameters. For that reason, most people will use a BATch file to launch KiX. There are many examples of BATch files to launch KiX posted, including THIS ONE.

Last question I promise!
We are uaing an AD. If I wanted to map a drive or point the profile to a batch file do I store it in the AD or map a drove and run it from there?

Not sure I understand the question.

In ADUC, on the user's Profile tab, you specify the "Logon script:".
"Profile path:" is only for roamies and while you could specify the "Home folder" there as well, I have never had consistent results with doing it that way and prefer to do all my mapping in the logon script.

The Z: drive reference for wintendo is created automagically by the OS because it has such a lousy redirector that cannot handle UNC.

Sorry Les, I meant the Profile tab, and then within here the Login script [ ].
I apologise for the confusion.
Do you recommend pointing the Profile to the login script from within here??
If not how would you map a drive for the user to point to the login script? Would you do it from their Profile in the AD or in the Kix login script? Or another way?

Les, the location of the actual script is in:
\\nw2.local\SysVol\nw2.local\Policies\{8B2C5277-7F74-49DC-BD48-8E4B059A6B3D}\User\Scripts\Logon

Do I need to specify this in the script? Or can kix locate any kix files in the root folder?

I would suggest moderator close this thread.
this is 3rd thread about same problem and the issue it discusses is purely starters material.
in addition, I don't see any code here.
