We have a new (need I even bother to add "last minute" or "in the midst of a patching frenzy") requirement to check about 660 servers for the following OS and app info. I already have a script that collects a fair amount of information. However, I need to quickly make mods to collect the rest and/or fine tune my results (i.e. the exact flavor of 2000 Server). Any suggestions on macros, reg keys, or files I can check to quickly positively (meaning a definite "yes" or "no") validate the rest of these?

Windows Advanced Server (How do I differentiate among 200 Advanced Server, 2003 Web Edition, etc.?)
Windows Server
Application Center Enterprise Ed
BizTalk RosettaNet Enterprise
BizTalk RosettaNet Standard
BizTalk SAP Enterprise
BizTalk Server Standard
Commerce Server Standard
Content Mgmt Server Enterprise Edtn
Exchange Server - Enterprise
Exchange Server - Standard
ISA Server Standard Edtn
MOM Ops Mgr Base Enterprise Ed
SQL Server Enterprise Edition (How to differentiate between Enterprise and Standard?)
SQL Server Standard Edition
System Mgmt Server Enterprise Ed (Dang -- if corporate would pay for this one, we wouldn't be going through these gyrations!!!)

I'm not asking for a script -- just trying to see if anyone can point me in the right direction to check these so I can write the code around that. We have not had a requirement for this in the past, and I figure someone out there may be checking for most/all of these already in their company.

Thank you,

NMM

here are some common ones for Windows versions...

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion
ProductName=
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\ProductOptions
ProductSuite=

try here for some others:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Server Applications

I have a list of Applications and the filename associated with the app. It gives you the file name and the file size. I can email it to you?

It includes the majority of the apps you have listed.

The file list might prove very helpful for the apps. I sent you my e-mail address. Thanks.
