Using the shell command in kix 3.62 suspends program execution in Windows NT (as the manual says it does). In Windows XP, the same script does NOT halt program execution, and the script continues when I need it to stop.

Any ideas on how to make kix behave like it advertizes?

Thanks,

Aaron Ploetz

Code:
Code:

$pgm = "%comspec% /a /c %systemroot%\explorer.exe /E,/ROOT," + $DriveLetter + "\data\we\cssdata\logs"
shell "$pgm"

P.S.- Our kix version in XP is also 3.62.

Try running it without specifying %comspec%. Likely, the command interpreter is closing and returning control back to the script. Or...you can use Start /wait

Code:

$pgm = "%systemroot%\explorer.exe /E,/ROOT," + $DriveLetter + "\data\we\cssdata\logs"
shell "$pgm"

You can either thy '%COMSPEC% /C START /MIN /WAIT ...' or preferably upgrade to KiXtart v4.22. see also the SHELL/RUN FAQ in the FAQ Forum.

Yeah, I tried it already without the %comspec%.

Never heard of Start/wait...could someone please explain how to use that?

Thanks,

Aaron Ploetz

See 'START /?' on the command prompt or the FAQ Forum.
