Trying to map drive in a different domain. Below you'll find our syntax for mapping "active" on a diffent domain if in group "shareactive". Any suggestions? ;Clear away any existing network drive mappings use * /delete
;Set up new drive mappings USE P: "\\fileserver\" + @USERID USE s: \\fileserver\shared USE x: \\fileserver\apps
;Map "Active" directory in Prep Domain IF InGroup("ShareActive") USE V: \\server3\Active pwd /User:Prep\activeuser EndIF

Thanks for the new syntax. It is working for xp and 2000 clients but not for 98. What needs to be done for 98 clients? They do map the other drives fine but not the active.
Thanks,
GR

Quote:
Main Entry: con·cise Pronunciation: k&n-'sIs Function: adjective Etymology: Latin concisus, from past participle of concidere to cut up, from com- + caedere to cut, strike 1 : marked by brevity of expression or statement : free from all elaboration and superfluous detail 2 : cut short : BRIEF - con·cise·ly adverb - con·cise·ness noun synonyms CONCISE, TERSE, SUCCINCT, LACONIC, SUMMARY, PITHY, COMPENDIOUS mean very brief in statement or expression. CONCISE suggests the removal of all that is superfluous or elaborative <a concise description>. TERSE implies pointed conciseness <a terse reply>. SUCCINCT implies the greatest possible compression <a succinct letter of resignation>. LACONIC implies brevity to the point of seeming rude, indifferent, or mysterious <an aloof and laconic stranger>. SUMMARY suggests the statement of main points with no elaboration or explanation <a summary listing of the year's main events>. PITHY adds to SUCCINCT or TERSE the implication of richness of meaning or substance <a comedy sharpened by pithy one-liners>. COMPENDIOUS applies to what is at once full in scope and brief and concise in treatment <a compendious dictionary>.
Concise is not really precise (pun intended) ;-)

Now that you folks have worked out the meaning of concise?!? It is the Ingroup that is not working. I removed the Ingroup and now have the drive mapped. IS that concise enough? Do you see a problem with the Ingroup syntax?? Thanks, GR

Jens, Thanks for your help, I'm now mapping based on the "If Ingroup" syntax across domains. ;Map "Active" directory in Prep Domain IF InGroup("ShareActive") USE V: '\\server3\Active' /User:Prep\activeuser /Password:pwd EndIF One more question, I will try to be concise. Three types of clients Win98, Win2000 and Win XP are all successfully mapping the V drive across domains. Once Win98 and Win2000 Clients are logged on, in Windows Explorer the drive displays as "Active on 'Server3'(V)". On XP Clients in Windows Explorer the drive displays as "Network Drive(V)". What will it take to make XP display the same as Win98 and Win2000? Thanks, GR
