Found a fix for it....when you mentioned permissions I tried something on the server and it worked.

Our share folders were set up so that under properties, we assigned permissions under the security tab AND the sharing tab. In the sharing window, we imposed a user limit of one (the folder's owner) and under security we gave the owner full control of it. It's redundant, I know, but we never had a problem with NT. Once the 2000 workstations were put into the network, the drive would not map. To fix it, I just changed the user limit to "maximum allowed" under the sharing tab of the share folders.
