I was just wondering in general how KiX works with WinPE? Any general considerations etc?

Good question. Would love to play with WinPE, just can't get my hands on it even though our University is supposed to be licensed for it :-(

You could get a WinPE wannabe at http://www.nu2.nu/pebuilder/

It works about the same as WinPE. Very handy.

There will be an all new Fresh version available for all MS Partners available in May

...perhaps Ruud could help out in answering the compability and feature parts regarding WinPE, since this little Preinstall Environment are going to play a major part of future MS OS releases...

I have played with it a little bit...

kix32 does run, but WMI isn't available, so much of what I was looking to do didn't work

additionally, Ghost and drive image require winPE versions to run, which I didn't have

I'm leaving PE for data recovery on a blown OS install

Well the Bart's PE stuff supports Ghost 8

Quote:

Ghost32 is certified to run on Microsoft Windows Preinstallation Environment (WinPE).
But it also works on BartPE.
Ghost32 is not free, buy it from Symantec.
To activate support for CD or DVD write, you also need to enabled the "ASPI" plugin.

Bart's Preinstalled Environment (BartPE) bootable live windows CD/DVD

Doc,

I have used this with ERD Commander 2003. Slick stuff.
