I am trying to set file permission on a directory and would like it to keep inheritable permissions from parrent. Is there a way to check to see if the directory has it check and/or to check the box using a script. shell "%comspec% /C cacls d:\users\$Filename /T /C /E /G students\$Filename:C < d:\scripts\yes.txt" shell "%comspec% /C cacls d:\users_profiles\$Filename /T /C /E /G students\$Filename:C < d:\scripts\yes.txt" Thanks david@elginisd.net

CACLS has a bug that can cause incorrectly ordered ACEs so you may want to look into using SubInAcl instead. Anyway, see for example Tools for setting ACLs _________________________ There are two types of vessels, submarines and targets.
