While I do not like where this discussion started, it has evolved into an interesting discussion where everyone has given a thoughful response on the issue. Last time we had this discussion, we came up with the idea of putting links to the major help links at the bottom of each moderators' post.

Can we turn this discussion in a direction that results in a positive change.

One idea I thought of:

Maybe we should develop a bank of "stock" answers that moderators could use. I know there is the faq but what I am thinking of is a little different. Less detailed & more simplistic.

These would be standard cut & past responses that the moderators could use over & over. These would be relatively short comments that might or might not point to other locations such as the FAQ or previous threads discussing this issue.

Any other ideas or comments?
