I empathize with your feelings mmletzko as I too have at times felt disheartened by an apparent apathy of feelings directed towards some new members by a few of the Moderators. However it must be noted that I do not believe there has been any malice or ill conceived intent on the part of any of those mentioned here. To the contrary I myself had once felt fed up with a certain new members deliberate berating of others. I attempted to persuade this individual that it was not beneficial to him or others to continue his pattern of derogatory replies. That this in fact would destroy any rapport he might have had or hoped to have with the other members of the community here on this board.
Basically this member ignored such recommendation, at which point I boycotted further posts from the individual and encouraged others to do so as well. The Moderator in question by you refused to partake in that boycott as he felt it was not to the best interests of the entire community. To me this shows that his inner being means well and at times perhaps anyone of us can and do show a demeanor that attempts to express our aggravation at some situation without meaning to be negative or abrasive to others.

Perhaps I might put it another way as well.

Let him who is without sin cast the first stone!

I too hope for and appreciate when we all practice self control at times of frustration and not let too much of that frustration show in our postings. I agree that those who seek advice here should have obtained a certain level of knowledge in Network Administration, but in reality it is not always so, which does not give anyone (in my humble opinion) the right to castigate them for their lack of knowledge. If anyone should be chastised perhaps it should be the Management that hired an unskilled worker in the first place when there are plenty of talented people seeking work.
