ja, I agree with you Howard. All those COMable extentions deserve to be extentions. No, I am talking about core language changes. imho, Kixtart classes would have to be builtin, and even regular expression, for speed and ease of use should probably be builtin into the langauge.
Back on topic, I know that on at least three seperate occasions, Ruud has hinted that .NET CLR (Common Language Runtime) support might be in the long-term cards for Kixtart. I would like to know just how serious he is taking this, or to his own mind, is this whole dotnet thing just the latest fad, to be pushed aside by the next big MS thingy ...

Dear,
Is Ruud the only person who is developping KiXtart, or he is the major person in a small group?
During development Ruud's biggest feedback are Scriptlogic and beta-testers?
KiXforms gets a more important role in the KiXtart community. Important because KiXforms makes it look like better to the outside world. Has Ruud an opinion about KiXforms?
Not only on this site but also on the site of Scriptlogic all kind of people make suggestions. When decides Ruud to do something with it? Are some things already put on the TO-DO list (btw: TO-DO doesn't mean it will be implemented. TO-DO shows the intention to implement it)? What is the current TO-DO list for the coming releases?
greetings.

Ruud, could you describe how you are going to implement the tokenizing process. Will you have any accompanying utilities to token and de-Token a script besides the standard kix32 and wkix32?
There is a need for encrypted scripts. Richard has been working very hard on providing this functionality with his Kixcrypt utility. Is the ability to securely encrypt a script on your to-do list? If not, could this functionality be added to the list?

A general question and a couple of corrol...corolla...corolor... follow-ups:
- How can we (the KiXtart user community) better contribute to the advancement of KiXtart?
- What do we do well that helps your work?
- What do we do badly that confuses/diverts?
- Do you feel able to call upon us help with testing, debugging and requests for comment? Is the quality of response sufficently high to make it worthwhile?

Don't laugh, brainstorming here (hopefully not a re-hash of what has been done) -
- How does the Tokenizing Engine work?
- How is this information cached?
- Are there any external files like WIN386.SWP that may need to be purged or have support issues with?
- Are these files compiled to say an EXE? If so, is there an option to decompile?
- If tokenizing into an EXE, is the WKIX32/KIX32 file included or are thesed "called"? This would be like the KiXCrypt program used today.
- Is there an included TSR program, or is this a simple call, complete the script, and close?
- What about security? Mapping LPT1 in XP, for example requires Admin Rights.
- How much of a speed increase would we see?
- Is this only for the WKIX32.EXE file or does this cover the KIX32.EXE too?

This is also a good question.
http://www.kixtart.org/board/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=14;t=001160;p=1#000000
I have experienced a delay (really annoying) at start up of a Kix32 script invoke in a CMD session in a no network condition. I contacted Ruud sometime ago but have not had a reply if a fix would be forth coming for W2K.
Howard's comments: quote: ; --code start-- ? "Hello World" ;--code end-
The execution of the script shown above is substantially delayed at startup when the network/domain is unavailable.
Why does KiXtart even attempt to communicate with the domain if no network information is requested or called in the script?
I have attached two network monitor traces that capture the communications caused by KiXtart 4.21. Notice the long delay caused when the network/domain is not available. Can this be corrected? This is very disturbing when trying to test new code locally on a network disconnected computer.
Ruud's comments: quote: On XP, KiXtart produces 0 network requests with the network cable removed. On 2000, it can produce 'NetrGetAnyDCName' requests (because 2000 handles the logonserver property differently).
