anyone thought about a lib of UDFs that simulated as much as possible, some of the functionality in the newer versions of kix, so the slackers can get up to speed

No it's not! [Eek!]

The slackers that aren't up to speed would most likely not take the time to learn how to use UDFs and would not maintain their libraries. You would also have to have a whole series of incremental libraries for each previous version, not to mention that some added functionality cannot be duplicated with UDFs.

Better to have forced obsolesence. Beggars can't be choosers [Big Grin]

I disagree.

sometimes, you can't upgrade the engine and you are stuck at say, 4.10

but there is a cool UDF or function that you would like to use, but that isn't available until 4.20.

take IIF() for example
