I put up a win98 machine at home for filesharing and decided to update it.
well, couldn't reach MS site and thought it was because it has only IE5.
so went to tucows and started the install.

it took approx. 10minutes for it to find a download server!

once it found it, the data game in some seconds.

now what is that if not DoS?

If you're thinking of Blaster/Lovsan, the coder of that worm did an error and the WindowsUpdate attack that is to take place on the 16th is aimed for windowsupdate.com, and not windowsupdate.microsoft.com which is the real address... MS mentioned they're simply gonna edit the A-record for the windowsupdate.comsite to redirect to 127.0.0.1...

Jooel: I'm sorry to inform you but it already happened a couple of years ago. Your physical presence is currently suspended in a warehouse-style storage unit for humans. What you actually see (think you're seeing/experiencing) is just a virtual environment designed to instill the impression of life into you [Wink]

If that's the case, then they did a pretty poor job of it.

about all j'lo usually sees is snow, trees, empty vodka bottles.

we finns are lot easier to deal with, just put some blank screen with green dots in the surrounding and we see no difference.
