That does pretty much sum up the American philisophy...

I noticed when in Germany, many of the roads looked like the road construction crew followed a sheep around the countryside, as no road could go 1 kilometer without have a curve or turn. I recall thinking to my self, as I was driving around curve in the road, (where the street went around a single tree in an open field) that Germans either can't drive in a straight line or that they are taking schnapps into account and are building the road under where the driver will wander off to.

Contrasting to Americans, where if they can't go over it, push it down, blow it up, they will drive a tunnel through it (as long as they can blow up pieces of it)
