I know kix is "careware" but there is no mention about redistributing it, say if it is bundled in a product my company is selling or leasing. Maybe this is a stupid question and that is assumed you can or can not with share/careware but does anyone know?
Thanks,

ScriptLogic is a perfect example of a commercial product that uses/ships with Kixtart. Visual Kixtart is another one. If you get Ruud's blessing and meet whatever requirements he may have, your gold (afiak)
On another note, looks as if Simplified Networks has come out with their next generation VisKix ...

Oh ok, now I got yeah ... hmmmm. I dont have any of that fancy legalesse stuff on any docs or in the dll. Other than a simple copyright notice. Dont know what that would "imply" really. KF simply states:
Copyright 2003 Freeware
There must be a default legal definition of this somewhere but in terms of incorporating KF into a commercial product, it would be ok with me but like you say - what does freeware really mean these days ... i would expect someone to at least send me a curtousy note on that one though, eh ?

Shawn,
Just a suggestion, I've seen a number of software authors stick a "send a donation" to a Paypal account. Some people actually feel "guilty" about using great freeware and want to contribute
Based on other posts I take it you are a/the author of KiXForms... anyone else involved? Not to ask a stupid question but how do you go about writing something like this? (Obviously over my head )

Mats, i think your right and that is why i did put that in there. But in terms of paypal and stuff, the only time I would ever consider asking for contributions is if the money could be recycled back into kixforms or into the kixtart community somehow, to make it a better product or place. I dont mean to sound all nicey-nicey and that, its just how i feel at this point in time.
I have put a heavy investment of time into Kixforms development, but probably nowhere near the time that Ruud has invested into Kixtart. Its in that "spirit" that I do this. But lets not fool anyone here - I enjoy using Kixtart/Kixforms as much as the next guy so I have my own selfish reasons too.
Software development doesn't take much material funding anyways. Mostly time but I tell yeah, what is being funded out-of-pocket is the Kixforms Web-site. Rod is gratiously funding that site himself and for that i say a big thank-you. He's got domain name fees and ISP fees and what-not. Quite nice of him !
