Good Afternoon, (And sorry for my english)
My Problem
i've got 2500 computers localised on +/- 250 geographical domain sites.
each oh these computers starts a NETLOGON proc.
I would like to use my netlogon to distribute and execute (whith HFNETCHECK, MSBSA and QCHAIN) all the 2000 and XP hotfixes.
I can't use big distribution software because our 250 domain server are not 2000 but Unix, the TCPIP speed between all sites are for the moment very slow and finally, Of Course, Most of the computer dont have an access to internet.
Is there a place other than Microsoft Windows Update where all the hotfixes could be downloaded ?
Does someone tried this Before ?
Thanks for your help
HFNETCHECK and the command-line version of MSBSA (Microsoft Base-line Security Analyzer).

One way to approach this (have not tried).. Is to use the SUS..
Microsoft Software Update Services FAQ
Essentially, the way this works is that your location becomes http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com and you distribute the hotfixes and updates to the clients.

Yes, i could use this but 200 sites (from a tota l of 250) doesn't have enough tcpip speed to use it centrally.
And i don't want to replicate this on 250 domain server.
The lonely way i think is using the netlogon proc.

Boxkit is limiting the number of hotfixes by using a letter of the username to determine whether the download should be done.
For example, set the string to "ABC", and only activate the hotfix for users whose login starts with the letters "A", "B" or "C". The next day, set the string to "ABCDEF" - now the users whose name starts "D","E" or "F" will get the hotfix, as will any of the "A","B","C" user who didn't log in the previous day.
Continue adding letters each day until you have A-Z.
A better solution may be to increment a counter in an ini file when you start the hotfix. Key the counter on the gateway of the machine. When the counter reaches a limit, no more machines on that subnet will do the hotfix. When the hotfix completes, decrement the counter. This way you can limit the number of hotfixes per site, and you can set the limit on a site-by-site basis.
Fundamantally though, you should be placing a copy locally to each site and doing the update from a local copy.
Or was that your original question?
